Short description: This session focuses on sleep hygiene; an important topic for all individuals when it comes to regulating both mental and physical wellbeing. Throughout this presentation, attendees will:
- Learn the number of hours of sleep they need per night based on their age group
- Recognize the negative impacts of sleep deprivation; both short-term and long-term
- Define “sleep hygiene” and review strategies for improving sleep hygiene
- Identify at least one new sleep hygiene practice to incorporate into a daily routine.
Bio: Olivia Brennan is the Assistant Director for the Office of Student Life and Engagement with USF Health Shared Student Services. She is a Florida native, originally from the small town of Englewood, FL. Olivia completed her undergraduate education at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, FL where she graduated with a BA in Communication and minor in Biology. She then came to the University of South Florida to complete a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in College Student Affairs. Olivia has worked professionally at USF since 2016. In 2018, Olivia became certified in Health and Wellness Coaching, and in 2021 she completed a certification in nutrition coaching; she currently offers “wellness check-ins” for USF Health students to talk about topics related to holistic wellbeing. Outside of work, Olivia enjoys spending time with her new husband and mixed Labrador/Rottweiler dog. They frequent Tampa’s many dog parks, enjoy trying new restaurants, and exercising on Bayshore Boulevard.
